Recently, Xinjiang Yaxin Coalbed Methane Investment and Development (Group) Co., Ltd. presided over the successful one-time ignition of the underground coal gasification (UCG) test, a major scientific and technological project, and at the same time realized the "double gas co-mining" of difficult-to-mine coal resources. This technology is the first in the world.
The UCG test is a technical difficulty that needs to be tackled in the major science and technology project of the Science and Technology Department of Xinjiang Autonomous Region, "Efficient Development Technology of Difficult-to-Exploit Coal-bed Methane Resources in Xinjiang. The project was launched in April 2023 and is mainly committed to overcoming the key and difficult technologies of clean and efficient utilization of coal (underground coal gasification) and coalbed methane development.
After long-term basic research and engineering practice, the scientific research team successfully broke through the limitations of traditional ignition technology and achieved one-time ignition success, laying a solid foundation for large-scale industrialization demonstration of underground coal gasification.
The project has also realized the in-situ gasification of super-kilometer coal seam, which is the first successful breakthrough in China. The construction of a super-large underground gasifier without wells is also the first in China. These innovative achievements show the outstanding strength of Yaxin CBM Group in scientific and technological research and development.
The calorific value of air gas in this UCG test exceeded 2500 kcal per cubic meter on average, with a maximum breakthrough of 4000 kcal per cubic meter. The result reached the leading level at home and abroad. This increase in calorific value will provide stronger support for the clean use of energy.
The successful one-time ignition of underground coal gasification and the technology of "double gas co-mining" are not only an important breakthrough in the field of energy in China, but also a milestone in the world clean energy revolution. This achievement will not only bring considerable economic benefits to enterprises, but also have a positive impact on national energy security and environmental protection.
